Bryan Adams, Liverpool Summer Pops

HE summed it up perfectly: “It was great last time but tonight it was even better.”
It only took one word from him in the strongest Scouse accent possible - LIVERPOOL - and the Big Top roared as you have never heard it before.
There really could not have been a better act to bring the Summer Pops to a grand finale than the Canadian rocker, Bryan Adams.
He never fails to impress, whether its at the Summer Pops or before a huge crowd at the MEN Arena, Bryan will always bring the house down.
And last night was no exception with the sell out audience dancing and rocking the night away with the star.He mixed strong melodies with meaningful lyrics and the crowd certainly did not need any prompting when the time came for impromptu sing-a-longs.
There was just one brief moment when the audience showed just the slightest bit of disapproval and that was when he was looking for a willing member to join him on stage for the number he recorded with Liverpool’s Melanie C, When You’re Gone.
Unfortunately for Liverpool he chose a young girl from London, Gemma, to join him, which did provoke a few boos from the crowd.
The 46-year-old has produced an exhausting list of albums and singles, from rock numbers to ballads and many of these were performed last night, including Everything I Do I do it for you.
Bryan said it himself - you forget you are in a tent - as he switched from guitar to guitar and even played the mouth organ.
During the one-and-a-half hours he performed no fewer than 20 of his hits - and then returned for a reprise which lasted virtually 30 minutes ending on what I believe was one of the many highlights of the evening with an acoustic version of Gnarls Barclay’s Crazy.
