Londonderry-born singer/songwriter Peter Cunnah is to judge one of the most prestigious awards in music this week.

Cunnah has joined an elite panel of judges to select the winners in this year’s Ivor Novello Awards for songwriting, to be held in London on Thursday.

The former D:Ream frontman, who is back with a new guitar-based band called Shane, was invited to be a judge after award-winning songwriter Guy Chambers dropped out.

Also judging this year will be Cathy Dennis, Bryan Adams, Steve Harley of Cockney Rebel fame and Keane’s Tim Rice Oxley.

Peter began writing songs for numerous pop acts, such as Steos and S Club 7, in the late 90s, after D:Ream split.

`Bryan’ Goes On Town Tour!

by Ana Carolina Mangelardo |

ROCKER Bryan Adams is starting a new tour - of Huddersfield!

The Canadian superstar, due at the Galpharm Stadium next month, has hit town already. Or at least a life-sized version has!

Promotions staff from the stadium are taking the cutout figure on a tour of the town in the coming weeks to promote the big rock concert, which takes place on June 1. The cutout is seen with Linda Myers (left) and Anna Young.

Adams, who appeared at the stadium for a sell-out concert a decade ago, will be supported by singer Beverley Knight.

Now the cutout will be on show in venues as diverse as Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda supermarkets, the Odeon Cinema, the Showcase Cinema at Birstall and Huddersfield University.

“We can’t get Bryan himself here until June so this is the next best thing”, said Linda, of the stadium team.

Tickets for the concert are available from the stadium.

by Ana Carolina Mangelardo | May 10, 2006

Bidding has ended. The winning bid: £7,100.00

The NSPCC is doing a set of ‘dream auctions’ to help less fortunate children in the UK. People like David Beckham and Sting have donated…and so has Bryan. The winning bidder will get to sing onstage with Bryan at a UK June/July show of their choice from the following: The possible dates are: 1st June – Huddersfield; 2nd June-Bridgend, Wales; 4th June- Galway, Ireland; 6th June-Newcastle; 8th June- Swindon; 20th July – Blickling Hall- Norwich; 21st July - Kedleston Hall, Derby.

Last year, another person won a bid  to sing ‘When You’re Gone’ with Bryan onstage on this tour…hence why the Northampton/Liverpool dates might not be available for selection. Anyway the NSPCC ‘dream auction’ website can be viewed at http://www.dreamauctionfullstop.com/

Cat Piss, Big Hits & Pamela Anderson - An Interview With Bryan Adams

by Ana Carolina Mangelardo | May 8, 2006

By Jeb Wright

Bryan has often been perceived as the ‘nice guy who lives next door’ type but the meaning to the song “Summer of ‘69″, and the new duet with blond bombshell Pam Anderson, should go a long way in tarnishing his nice guy image. Before we know it, Bryan may change his attitude and became a manic, flying around backstage in a golf cart running over music journalists without feeling so much as a twinge of guilt.

Read on – it will all make sense by the end of the interview!  (read more..)

International Star Bryan Adams Earns Mini-Tour Lifestyle

by Ana Carolina Mangelardo | May 5, 2006

In an early morning interview from New York City, Adams chatted about his upcoming show at the Fillmore Auditorium on Sunday.

News: You have just a few U.S. dates? it’s like a mini-tour.

Adams: ‘It was going to be longer, but I decided not to do a longer one. I like to go out a week a month and do shows and then go home. I remember when I told my manager that’s how I want to work about six years ago. He just laughed and said, ‘You’ll never do it. No one will stick with you. Your road crew will leave you. Your band will leave you. You’ll do sets by yourself with an acoustic guitar.’ Nobody left - everyone does it.’

News: You’ve recorded with both Sting and Pamela Anderson. Compare and contrast their styles in the studio.

Adams: ‘It’s kinda different (laughs). I don’t know if he’d really appreciate that all that much. With Sting, he was the first person I called when I wanted to do that song All For Love and wanted to do a trio of singers. With Pamela, it was more of a novelty. I wasn’t working with Pam because of her singing attributes.’ (read more..)
