Bryan excited to be back in Mumbai again!

by gaurav | January 5, 2006

Rock star Bryan Adams is excited about coming to Mumbai again. Here is an excerpt from an interview with the rocker by a local daily:

Q: You’re coming back to Mumbai after five years. What memories do you have of the last gig?

A: Actually, let’s talk about the first gig in Mumbai at the cricket stadium. They divided the pitch in half with huge posts.

One side of the pitch had the seats and the people from the city, on the other side of the fence were the members of the cricket club. It was so weird.

Then, someone ran on stage, grabbed the mike and yelled “I thought I’d died and gone to heaven”, then jumped off the stage into the crowd. It was a different kind of evening.

Q: About Anthology, the biggest retrospective of your multiplatinum career, what was most special about putting it all together?

A: There were lots of things I wanted in there. I went back into my notes that I had kept on each song when they were written and included them in the Anthology.

It was a big trip down memory lane for me as the songs represent times in my life, much like looking at a photo album.

Q: Your love for photography has made you capture some of the most interesting women, including the Queen. What do you treasure most out of this experience?

A: Just being able to do it.

Q: Your guitar broke the Guinness World Record being the most expensive guitar to be auctioned…

A: Well, let’s get the story straight here, the guitar was donated to a project that I intiated to raise money for the Tsunami.

The idea was to ask all of my guitar heroes to sign it and I would in return auction it off for as much money as I could possibly get.

I got around 21 different signatures and we auctioned it off in Doha and raised 1.6 million pounds. It was amazing. So as the Beatles song goes… ‘I get by with a little help from my friends!’ It’s now a world record holder.

Q: Any message to your fans in India?

A: Really looking forward to coming back!

It is good for Bryan to do that, but I really do wish that he would take it easy because I’m worried about his health. I would also like to have Bryan Adams to perform here in Michigan.
