HEADLINING the gala dinner will be Canadian rock star Bryan Adams, whose white Stratocaster guitar — signed by such luminaries as Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney and Sting — will be a highlight of the celebrity auction. Adams has long been a a champion of education and relief efforts worldwide, most notably in the wake of last year’s devastating tsunami in South Asia.

The master of ceremonies, CNN presenter Richard Quest, will welcome celebrity guests from around the world, including actor Jet Li, cycling legend Eddy Merckx, French judo champion David Douillet, British Iranian comic Omid Djalili, former Miss World Ashwarta Rai and Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan.. These special guests will be joined by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar; Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned, Wife of the Emir and Chair of Qatar Foundation; His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Heir Apparent; and Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chair of the Reach Out to Asia campaign.

The evening will include a video presentation that describes the devastation wrought by last year’s tsunami disaster and the challenges facing relief efforts in its wake. There will also be the presentation of Reach Out to Asia’s first annual Lifetime Achievement Award and finally a live performance by Bryan Adams.
