BRYAN ADAMS IN CANADIAN TSUNAMI CONCERT

by admin |

Even as Canada observes Saturday as a national mourning day for tsunami victims and individual Canadians create history by making an unprecedented contributions, Canadian stars and celebrities too are pitching in.

On Thursday night, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) is bringing these stars on for a three-hour live `Canada for Asia’ concert in Toronto to raise money for the relief effort.

To be telecast and broadcast live on CBC television and radio, the concert features

Major Canadian stars, including Celine Dion, Bryan Adams, Blue Rodeo, Molly Johnson, Tom Cochrane, Bruce Cockburn, Oscar Peterson, Barenaked Ladies and Rush. Since Celine Dion performs at Las Vegas, her performance will be telecast from the Sin City.

The famous Canadian author Margaret Atwood and sports commentator Don Cherry are also participating in the live concert.

Interestingly, viewers will be asked to pay by calling a toll-free phone number or online.

All the proceeds will go to World Vision Canada, the Canadian Red Cross, UNICEF, Oxfam Canada, Care Canada, Save the Children Canada, Development and Peace and Oxfam Quebec. These agencies are currently involved in the rescue operations in the tsunami-hit Thailand, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

CBC (the public broadcaster in this country) has asked all private broadcasters such as CHUM, CTV and Global to air the concert. If all private channels air the show, “we will reach not only all of Canada - and that’s a goal - it will be a golden and sterling moment,” senator Jerry Graftstein, who is involved in the star show, said in Toronto.

In this open season of generosity, Canadian TV and radio channels seem to be vying with one another to contribute to the relief effort. This Wednesday, CHUM group’s 65 radio and TV stations raised $3.6 million from listeners through donations.

BRYAN ADAMS’S DIRTY SOCKS AUCTIONED

by admin |

A pair of unwashed socks worn by rocker Bryan Adams has been auctioned for charity on the internet.
The socks were left in the back of a car used to drive the Canadian star to the Children In Need show in Wrexham.

The car firm decided to sell the socks on Ebay to raise money for the Nightingale House Hospice appeal.

The winning bid was £551, but the bidder backed out so the socks have been offered to the second highest bidder for £541.

The 45-year-old singer left the socks in the back of a chauffeur-driven car after he changed his clothes following the Children In Need concert in the town in November.

Ray Squire who runs Wrexham Bluestone Cars said that the star had already signed copies of his new CD, Room Service, to be auctioned to raise money for the cancer hospice.

So when he found the socks, he decided to put them up for auction too.

“He left them in the vehicle along with some towels and pizzas,” said Mr Squire.

The money raised will go to the Nightingale House Hospice

“We had already asked him to sign some CDs so we could try and get some money for the Nightingale Hospice appeal.

“So when we saw that he had just discarded the socks, we took care of them for a while then decided to sell them too.”

The auction ended on Friday evening with the highest bid of £551, but Mr Squire said that he was disappointed when the bidder backed out of the auction.

“We have emailed the second highest bidder to explain what has happened and we hope that they will want to buy the socks instead,” he said.

“It was disappointing but we are doing all we can to raise as much as we can for Nightingale and we hope to get it all resolved by the end of the weekend so we can get the money over to the hospice,” he added.

PAMELA ANDERSON SINGS FOR BRYAN ADAMS

by admin |

Pamela Anderson will duet with Bryan Adams on “When You’re Gone” for his “Anthology.” He originally recorded the song with Mel C of the Spice Girls.
The former BAYWATCH actress, who already counts novelist, fashion designer and animal rights activist as a few of her many titles, has recorded a track with BRYAN ADAMS - and she’s impressed with the results.

She says, “Bryan Adams is a friend of mine and Canadian. He talked me into recording a song with him. We went to the Chateau Marmont (in Hollywood) and hung out for a while.

“He said he wanted me to do a harmony on one of his songs called WHEN YOU’RE GONE. I actually sang with him and it didn’t sound bad. I’m surprised… I really loved it and had a really good time. It comes out in October on his ANTHOLOGY album.”

PAMELA ANDERSON’s decision to record a duet with BRYAN ADAMS has shocked former husband TOMMY LEE, because he knows from experience she has never had aspirations to be a singer. The MOTLEY CRUE drummer believes the former BAYWATCH babe’s singing debut will need to be enhanced by studio tinkering on the track WHEN YOU’RE GONE, which will be included on Adams’ forthcoming ANTHOLOGY album. Lee says, “I just heard about this yesterday. “To tell you the truth I never heard her sing, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use the technical magical world of recording studios to make her sound good.”

Bryan Adams, his camera, and t.A.T.u - A Deadly Trio!

by gaurav | October 20, 2005

October 1, on the last day of the European promo-tour, Bryan Adams, worldly known as a musician and unknown to most people as a fashion-photographer, had a photo shoot with t.A.T.u.

Adams doesn’t like to talk about his interest in photography. That’s why few know that he’s been in photography for the last twenty years. For the girls Bryan’s hobby was a revelation as well.

That day t.A.T.u. were to perform at GLAM AS YOU party, and to give them a break before the show, it was decided to start shooting at 5 am.

The location was Bryan’s personal Paris apartment that he’d recently got. At that moment the apartment was a space prepared to be reconditioned: bare rooms that looked like boxes, dust, plaster, building materials scattered all over the place. Old computers and monitors were delivered to Adam’s place for the set.
The photo shoot lasted till 6 pm. After the shoot the girls went straight to the Club Med World for rehearsal.

The photographs shot by Adams will be used by the record label in promo events of the album “Dangerous and Moving” (“Ludi Invalidi”).

Bryan Adams and movie soundtracks are inseparable!

by gaurav | October 24, 2005

Bryan Adams is going to lend his vocals for yet another soundtrack. The movie, yet to be named and yet to begin production, is based on the 1995 movie “Don Juan DeMarco”.

Bryan had composed and sang a ballad, Have you ever really loved a woman?, for that movie too, and it had hit # 1. So when the discussion about who would do the music came up, Bryan Adams was unanimously chosen. Antonio Banderas will play the lead in David Leveaux-directed movie. It is not yet known whether the Canadian crooner would do a single track or the whole album. Bryan hopes to score big again with this outing.

Bryan’s Qatar Guitar breaks record!

by Ana Carolina Mangelardo | November 21, 2005

Bryan Adams broke a Guinness World Record this week by auctioning off the most expensive guitar in history for 1.6 million dollars. After last year’s tsunami in southeast Asia, the Canadian started getting musicians to sign the white Stratocaster in hopes of raising money for relief efforts. Just in the last year, it has been signed by nearly 20 legends, including Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Brian May, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Pete Townshend, Mark Knopfler, Ray Davies, Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis, Ronnie Wood, Tony Iommi, Angus and Malcolm Young of AC/DC, Paul McCartney, Sting, Ritchie Blackmore, Def Leppard and Adams himself.

The guitar, which was donated by Fender, was auctioned off earlier this year for more than $150,000. It was re-auctioned this week and bought for more than $1.6 million. All proceeds will go towards the Reach Out To Asia Foundation.

Adams was the guest of honor at Wednesday’s (November 16th) inaugural Reach Out To Asia charity fundraiser in the Qatari capital, Doha. He recently released Anthology, celebrating his 25th anniversary as a recording artist. Along with all of his hits, the two-disc set features a newly-recorded duet with Pamela Anderson.

Bryan Adams Enlist Anderson For Duet Remark

by Ana Carolina Mangelardo | November 26, 2005

Canadian rocker BRYAN ADAMS has taken a cheeky swipe at one-time duet partner MELANIE C by replacing her with PAMELA ANDERSON on his greatest hits album.

The former SPICE GIRL duetted with Adams on 1998 track WHEN YOU’RE GONE, but he wanted to change the track for his upcoming ANTHOLOGY disc because the original failed to make an impact in the US.

And Adams was determined to use the former BAYWATCH babe even though she insisted she couldn’t sing - much to Melanie C’s chagrin.

He says, “For my new ANTHOLOGY album I wanted to replace the song I did with Mel C as it wasn’t a hit in America.

“So I asked Pamela if she could sing and she said no, and I said, ‘Perfect!’

“We recorded it in Los Angeles a couple of months ago. After a few glasses of champagne she was away.”

Adams Will Rock Out for Mount Benson

by Ana Carolina Mangelardo | November 29, 2005

Coalition says rocker agrees to play show in Nanaimo Jan. 21
Bryan Adams will headline a Nanaimo benefit concert Jan. 21.
Adams reportedly agreed to appear at Frank Crane Arena to raise money for the Coalition to Save Mount Benson yesterday.
“Bryan is very enthusiastic to kick off our campaign and to raise money for the mountain,” said Gail Adrienne, a member of the coalition.
Adams is scheduled to play in Victoria the night before as part of his cross-Canada tour, which started in 2005 and will end in February 2006.
When Adrienne heard he was playing Victoria she called Adams’s dad Conrad, who lives in Nanaimo, and asked for some help.
The City of Nanaimo waived the rental fees for the arena and the rest fell into place, said Adrienne.
Ticket prices and where to purchase them will be announced within the next few weeks.
The money raised from the concert will be used to save Mount Benson from being logged by making it into a public park.

“Once we had our technical staff visit the Frank Crane Arena it became clear it was never designed to support the caliber of show that Bryan tours with,” said manager Bruce Allen. “We’ve got
4 semi-trailers of equipment and no means to do a proper load in. Logistically we could not put up a first class show with the restrictions inherent in a building that is geared for ice events.
Even though it is a fund-raiser, those that are buying tickets to see Adams perform, are entitled to a first rate show. This could not be accomplished in the Frank Crane Arena.”
The money raised by taking the show outdoors in the summer stands to be more significant, attracting not only locals but also visitors to the Island.
“Bryan’s goal was to raise money to support The Nanaimo Area Land Trust in their efforts to purchase Mount Benson”, noted Allen. “The change in venue and time of year increases the likelihood of it being a successful venture.
Details of the August concert will be announced in
due course.

Adams Caps 25th Anniversary Touring Canada

by Cristy Carothers | December 5, 2005

Bryan Adams felt the best way to celebrate his 25th anniversary was what any true Canadian would do, tour Canada in the dead of winter.
Besides, he said, winter doesn’t scare him. “I’ve got everything ready,” he said. “I’m packing some longjohns, some down filled stuff. I’m not going to be shovelling snow so I’ll be OK, although if we get stuck I might be. All right boys, forget the gig! We’re shovelling!”

Adams is playing both large and small towns in Canada. After that he heads to South Africa, India, and Pakistan.
“Because the songs have transcended boundaries and languages and borders, I can pretty much throw a dart on the map and play anywhere in the world now, which is fantastic because there’s a lot of places I want to go,” he said with a hearty laugh.
His tour starts in Quebec City, Colisee de Quebec December 6th, and ends January 6th in Victoria City, B.C.
