Bryan Adams and Billy Joel at the Colosseum 31 July.

Bryan and Billy Joel are the “ospiti d’onore” at this year’s free-entry Telecomcert to be held at the Colosseum on Monday, 31 July at 21.00.
Bryan will take the stage first and will sing for about an hour, followed by a two-hour performance by Billy Joel, who hasn’t performed on Italian soil for over 11 years. Bryan’s most recent tour in Italy, but which excluded Rome, was last September.

The event, which is organised by Telecom and the city every summer, boasts a 26-metre long stage and ten megascreens. Numerous tents will be set up to deal with emergencies and three tanks of drinking water will be available to the public. A special area for the disabled (with some 200 seats) will also be available.

Special barriers will be set up to protect the monuments and archaeological sites along Via dei Fori Imperiali. (more…)

Bryan Adams, Liverpool Summer Pops

By bryan adams.org | July 26, 2006

HE summed it up perfectly: “It was great last time but tonight it was even better.”

It only took one word from him in the strongest Scouse accent possible – LIVERPOOL – and the Big Top roared as you have never heard it before.

There really could not have been a better act to bring the Summer Pops to a grand finale than the Canadian rocker, Bryan Adams.

He never fails to impress, whether its at the Summer Pops or before a huge crowd at the MEN Arena, Bryan will always bring the house down.

And last night was no exception with the sell out audience dancing and rocking the night away with the star. (more…)

Bryan Adams, Summer Pops, Liverpool

By bryan adams.org | July 24, 2006

IT WAS the last night of the Summer Pops 06 and what a way to go out as Canada’s finest singersongwriter played a stunning two-hour set.

It was a greatest hits collection and more with pencil-thin Bryan and his band, all in dark T-shirts and jeans, who ensured that this was a real going-away party where audience participation was compulsory.

Bryan had two microphones set up on stage: one on the right and one on the left allowing him to run from one to the other between songs so his fans could see him.

It was a rich, faultless and diverse set delivered without any pop pomposity.

Everything I Do) I do It For You, which stayed at the top of the charts longer than any other number one, was here presented via Bryan on acoustic guitar. The crowd joined in on all the right places. (more…)

Bryan Adams: I Haven’t Seen Mel C Since She Started At The Chippie

By bryan adams.org | July 9, 2006

By Kate Mansey, Liverpool Echo

BRYAN Adams says he’s not looking forward to all the tracksuits when he comes to Liverpool. And as he returns to the Summer Pops this year, he shows no signs of curbing his cheeky sense of humour.

In his career, the 46-year-old Canadian has produced an exhausting list of albums and singles. He has written tunes for other artists and now has even turned his hand to photography. From his rock anthems such as Summer of ‘69 to his ever-popular ballads, Bryan has been the master of his own career.
It was (Everything I Do) I Do It For You that secured Bryan a place in the hearts of UK fans, earning him the record for the longest running No.1

Bryan later teamed up with Liverpool’s Melanie C to record When You’re G one.
More recently he re-recorded the track with none other than former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson to help it appeal to the US market. (more…)

Rick Reid Goes Reckless

By bryan adams.org | July 3, 2006

Edmonton’s City Streets frontman Rick Reid admits to Reckless being the reason he decided to play guitar.  Bryan Adams’s 1984 spawned six top-40 hits.

“If I am going to be honest, I have to go back to grade 4,” Reid says.  ”When I was a kid, I was really into sports, but it was that album that got me into music. That was the album which eventually led me to pick up a guitar.”

There was no escaping Reckless. Songs like “Summer of 69,” “It’s Only Love” (with Tina Turner)  ”Heaven” and “Run To You” were on hit radio non-stop.

“You still hear songs from it on the radio all the time,” says Reid. “Really, Bryan Adams is a great songwriter when it comes to melody. OK, a lot of his lyrics are really cheesy, but some of his songs sound really, really good. I’m not ashamed to say that.”

Reid actually thinks that you can make some kind of link between how he turned on to Bryan Adams years ago and where he is now as a musician. But City Streets doesn’t sound anything like Bryan Adams. Make no mistake.
