Bryan excited to be back in Mumbai again!

By bryan adams.org | January 5, 2006

Rock star Bryan Adams is excited about coming to Mumbai again. Here is an excerpt from an interview with the rocker by a local daily:

Q: You’re coming back to Mumbai after five years. What memories do you have of the last gig?

A: Actually, let’s talk about the first gig in Mumbai at the cricket stadium. They divided the pitch in half with huge posts.

One side of the pitch had the seats and the people from the city, on the other side of the fence were the members of the cricket club. It was so weird.

Then, someone ran on stage, grabbed the mike and yelled “I thought I’d died and gone to heaven”, then jumped off the stage into the crowd. It was a different kind of evening. (more…)

Interesting Facts about Bryan´s Life

By bryan adams.org | January 8, 2006

The Life of Bryan

* At 16, he quit school and convinced his mother to let him use the money she had saved for his college education to buy a baby grand piano.

* In 1976-77 he was the lead singer of the band Sweeney Todd. On the band’s recordings, his voice was speeded up so it didn’t sound so raspy.

* During the 1998 Winnipeg Arena concert, Adams made a point of commenting on the venue’s huge portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, saying he had never seen a picture of her smiling. Then, in 2002 Adams photographed the monarch on her Golden Jubilee and his photo, with the Queen smiling, was used on a Canadian postage stamp. (more…)

Remembering Bryan Adams has longtime fans in Heaven a few days before rock legend runs Back to You
By Cheryl Binning

ON a rainy August day in 1992, 29-year-old Tom Stumpf went to work as usual at his uncle’s limousine company. He was told his job that day was to pick up a big white van, go to the airport, and transport a band (his uncle wasn’t sure who they were) to Birds Hill Park for a concert.

Stumpf showed up at the appointed time and watched in awe as a blond guy wearing a white T-shirt, jeans and a light jacket approached.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes when Bryan Adams came walking out,” says Stumpf, who is now 42 and runs a Winnipeg transportation company.

“I love his music — I’m a big fan — so it was unbelievable.” (more…)

Bryan Adams Is a Man Of Many Faces

By bryan adams.org | January 9, 2006

Step right up, folks. It’s time to see the sole Canadian musician capable of writing a tear-jerking chart-topper, flirting with royalty and saving the whales — all while sweatily thrashing around a stage like it’s the summer of ‘69.

Call him a man of many talents — we’ll just call him Bryan Adams.

Juggling a multitude of roles is all in a day’s work for the 46-year-old Vancouver-bred CanRock songster you’ve known and loved for decades. Want him to sing? He can sing. Want him to rock? He can rock. Want him to photograph the Queen for a postage stamp? He can do that, too.

We know it’s true — everything Adams does, he does for you. And because he’s a … (more…)

Bryan Adams – A Night To Remember – Jan 11

By bryan adams.org | January 14, 2006

By ROB WILLIAMS

One of the smartest moves Bryan Adams ever made was to write the song 18 Til I Die.

The “I’ll never grow up” anthem gives the 46-year-old Vancouver superstar carte blanche to continue cranking out the hits he wrote in his younger days without coming off as some desperate aging rocker trying to reclaim his glory years.

And Adams looked anything but desperate last night at the MTS Centre.

His biggest hits may be more than a decade behind him, but he still managed to draw 9,500 people to the arena, making the concert his largest local show ever, not counting his rainy 1992 gig at Birds Hill Park.

“That got cut short because the typhoon came in that night, so we’re making up for lost time with lots of music tonight,” he said. (more…)

Adams Offers Hits, Distinctive Voice

By bryan adams.org | January 15, 2006

Take a moment and count ‘em — Bryan Adams must have a hit for every year in his two-and-a-half decade career.

In fact, his recent greatest hits collection, Anthology, has more than 30 of them.

And probably the two biggest of all those enourmous hit songs came together, midway through Adams’s concert Thursday night at Credit Union Centre.

Even before the opening notes of Summer of ‘69, the crowd roared, as Adams gave away the title by insisting the upcoming tune had nothing to do with a certain period of time.

The crowd sang the first few lyrics and they were on their feet, cheering and no doubt remembering a time when they first heard that song, or danced to it, or hit the open road with that song blaring on the stereo. (more…)

Still 18 ‘Til He Dies

By bryan adams.org | January 16, 2006

Blue jeans, white T-shirt, sneakers, guitar, rock ‘n’ roll – that’s Bryan Adams. Even at 47, he still seems philosophically bound to 18 ‘Til I Die, one of his biggest hits.

He hasn’t changed much, sure, but in an era where aging artists like Madonna scrutinize trends amongst 18- to 35-year-olds and Rod Stewart tries to shape shift into a Vegas-like lounge lizard, Adams’s steadfast approach to rock ‘n’ roll is admirable.

Say what you will, the guy’s consistent.

With the rock scene now awash with terms like “emo” and “progressive,” Adams’s back catalogue is refreshingly uncomplicated and straightforward with hit tunes like Run to You, Can’t Stop This Thing We Started, Kids Wanna Rock and It’s Only Love (a duet with Tina Turner). (more…)

Rock Never Grows Old And Neither Does Bryan Adams

By bryan adams.org | January 17, 2006

EDMONTON – Reviewing Bryan Adams presents a bit of a quandary if you have no desire to see the veteran rocker. Short of including Summer of ‘69 as a guilty pleasure, most of Adam’s rather limited selection of unctuous ballads and pro forma roots rockers do not inspire someone raised on slightly edgier music.

Let’s be honest — Adams at his best plays unaffected, no frills rock — sturdy car-radio fodder, all surfaces, glossy in spite of its calculated roughness. At his worst he reduces rock into tired cliches and banal gestures — Bruce Springsteen with the spine pulled out of him.

The Springsteen-lite analogy followed him from the early part of his career, but the part that must hurt the most is the charge of turning adult-oriented rock with the long run of ballads that sent him to the top of the charts and had him working with the likes of Celine Dion. (more…)

Adams Never Fails

By bryan adams.org |

Now that was a rock show.
A no-bones-about-it heck of a rock show.
Thanks, Bryan Adams, for reminding us how it’s done.
Adams brought his show to a sold-out 6,000-plus audience at Red Deer’s Centrium on Saturday night and went way beyond awesome.
Anyone who has ever seen Adams perform knows he works his butt off and Saturday night was no exception.
But he does a lot more than just work hard, he connects with his audience.
Adams does that in a number of ways, though the main one was that he was his regular old unpretentious self.
Of course he wore his usual simple outfit of T-shirt and blue jeans. This time the shirt was black and the jeans were turned up at the cuff. (more…)

Bryan Adams Brings Hit List to The ’Dome

By bryan adams.org | January 18, 2006

CALGARY – Six degrees of good.

There’s really no other way to describe the Bryan Adams concert experience.

Over the course of his 25-year solo career, and over the dozens of times he’s rolled through town, the Canadian arena rock icon always puts on a show that dabbles with the definition of good.
Good, kinda good, pretty good, very good, really good, exceptionally good and, every once in a while, incredibly good.

By his very generic nature, he can never be qualified an extreme, such as brilliant or bad, although his recorded output, especially of late, has often not only broached the latter, but skinny-dipped shamelessly and obliviously in its rank, fetid waters. (more…)

Bryan Adams Has Lots Of Love For Devotees

By bryan adams.org |

Bryan Adams still has what it takes.

Just ask the throngs of eager, CD-clutching fans that packed the Chinook Centre Music World location yesterday afternoon.

At first, it seemed like a typical Monday afternoon at the mall. So quiet, in fact, one wondered if they were in the right place.

Then I saw it. Fans spilling out the doors, holding their memorabilia tightly to their chests.

Every few minutes a cheer would go up from a different corner of Music World as the line, which snaked through the aisles, crept slowly forward. (more…)

Summer Of ‘69 Jokes Send Ryan Adams Into Therapy

By bryan adams.org |

US rocker Ryan Adams underwent therapy after his last tour because he couldn’t handle fans screaming Bryan Adams’ song titles from the audience. The singer/songwriter famously fought with one cheeky devotee who screamed the other Adams’ Summer Of ‘69 at him during one show and he decided it was time to confront issues he had with having a name similar to the Run To You hitmaker. He says, “I used to go onstage, and I couldn’t hear any of the clapping. I could only hear, ‘F**k you..!’ “I turned that into such a negative thing that it paralysed me. So now it’s not like someone’s not going to shout Summer Of ‘69, but I can choose to not let that ruin my evening.” But Adams still has disdain for his fans: “They’re a bunch of f**king c**ks. They come to my shows just to provoke me.”

Powter, who is psyched to be returning to Canada, toured as Adams’ opening act last summer in Europe.

As the opener, Powter did 35 minutes (“It’s the right amount of time when people don’t know you”) but recently completed a headlining tour of Ireland as his album became increasingly popular.

It was then that his appreciation of Adams grew even more.

“He sometimes will play three hours a night,” he says in wonder. “He did four of those nights in a row. I couldn’t do it.” (more…)

26 Years, 15 Albums, And Still Going

By bryan adams.org |

Minutes after the scheduled start time of 8:30pm, 46-years-young Bryan Adams stormed onto stage with his four bandmates to begin their second last concert on the Live Across the Nation Tour. They all appeared in typical Adams style, wearing black tees and jeans and were greeted by over 9000 screaming fans that packed Credit Union Centre on Thursday, January 5. Stage lights illuminated the lively audience as a blanket dropped down to reveal a backdrop of a two-storey tall white guitar imprinted with “Room Service”, the name of Adams’s first single off his latest album of the same name. The set then appropriately exploded with the Canadian rocker’s newest song. The crowd’s energy was mediocre at first, probably expecting Adams to start with a bigger hit, but fans quickly warmed up as Adams continued onto other songs such as “18 ‘Til I Die”, “Let’s Make A Night To Remember”, and “Can’t Stop This Thing We Started”. From there I did a book of photos of Canadian women to raise money and support for breast cancer. I’m working on another book at the moment for Calvin Klein.

Is there anything that you enjoy shooting the most?

Keeping The ‘Riff Raff’ Out Of The Bryan Adams Concert?

By bryan adams.org |

KARACHI: Almost every young person in Karachi laments one thing: we don’t host proper music concerts. Madonna will never come here to gyrate her hips at the National Stadium, Coldplay will not sign copies of their biography at Liberty Books and System of a Down would rather go Down Under than make a pit stop at the PACC.

This is precisely why the Bryan Adams concert on Jan 29 is such a big deal. “The only thing that sucks is that Shehzad Roy is going to open the show,” said an ungrateful A’Level student. Aside from that, it promises to be a memorable gig.

Bryan Adams may not be as big as Madonna or Coldplay but he is a respectable name in the business. I am fond of him because he is a crooner from my days at school and while not all high school students today are big fans, they are still pestering their parents to go. It is not every day that international rock stars come to Karachi. (more…)

An academic education was not his priority, and Bryan quit school at 16. Much to his parents’ dismay, he joined the rock band Shock, later moving on to the semi successful band Sweeny Todd. (more…)

He has also made a name for himself as a photographer and philanthropist. His mischievous portrait of HRH Queen Elizabeth II is now used on a Canadian stamp and his book of photographs of Canadian women with breast cancer ‘Made in Canada’ (1999) helped raise funds for the cause.

BT : The current style of rock is all about ‘nu’ metal. What do you think of new-age rock?

BA : It has always been around in some form. Rock never dies, it just gets louder.

BT : Your style of singing has changed over the years from a more personal one to more trendy. Are you trying to woo a younger or a newer audience by doing that?

BA : I do what feels natural to me at that moment in time, nothing is planned.

BT : In your new album Anthology, you have teamed up with fellow Canadian Pamela Anderson for ‘When you’re gone’. How Different was it from singing the same song with Melanie C? Also, how was the experience of working with her?

BA : It was only released in the States for Anthology. The version featuring Melanie C was never released in the States. Pam’s contributions are like any singer, every one has their own qualities. (more…)

Bryan Adams Performs To Karachi

By bryan adams.org |

Canadian pop star Bryan Adams is performing in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi to raise money for survivors of last October’s earthquake.

It is the first concert by a Western pop star in the country since the 11 September terror attacks in the US.

The authorities hope it signifies a “healthy cultural change” in the city, which has seen several bombings and terror attacks in recent years.

Some 20,000 tickets have been sold for Sunday’s concert, despite steep prices.

‘Cultural change’

Singer of hit songs, like Summer of ‘69, Adams said he was excited to be the first Western artist to perform a big concert in the country in four years.

A Night To Remember With Bryan Adams

By bryan adams.org | January 31, 2006

New Delhi: Give it to me straight from the heart. Tell me we can make one more start – that’s the message Bryan Adams had for the quake victims of Pakistan.

Last night he was performing at Karachi’s Arabian Sea Country Club where he left thousands of fans shouting for more.

It was indeed a night to remember as Pakistan danced to the beats of their favorite rock star.

From Summer of ‘69 to Please Forgive Me, the show had it all.

The concert was held to generate funds for earthquake affected students and rebuild schools . Adams himself was as excited as his fans if not more.

“This concert is special for many reasons, firstly, I am the first one to perform in Pakistan and secondly because it;s for a good cause,” he said.

Over twenty thousand fans packed into the Arabian Sea country club on the outskirts of Karachi for the concert. And Adams really made it a night to remember for them.

Karachi Rocks To Bryan Adams

By bryan adams.org |

Tonight Karachi was a witness to the First ever international rock concert with the arrival of Bryan Adams to the Arabian Country Club, a location on the outskirts of Karachi. The city was abuzz with the upcoming concert for quite sometime, the only concerns were regarding the steep ticket price and security.

The organizers Zindagi Trust an non-profit NGO lead by a local pop icon Shahzad Roy pulled the trick out of the hat. Security was iron clad tight and only were you permitted into the venue after you had been thoroughly screened, with a number of screening locations one barely had to wait a brief 3 minutes before finally entering the massive venue.

The show started as promised around 7:30 and Bryan Adams came a brief half hour later and the massive 13,000 strong crowd got into high gear. Bryan Adams rocked the house with his truly inspirational vocals keeping the massive crowd captivated to every beat, the crowd Karaoke every song along with Mr. Adams and a few hours later was greeted with a fascinating display of fireworks to bid farewell.

Concerts are held around the world but for a concert of this magnitude for the first time ever in Pakistan, everyone held his breath as even a minor hiccup would send us back into the stone-age. This concert will the setting stage for more to come, and if organizations like Zindagi Trust remain at the helm of affairs sparing no expense to set an example for the next to follow, we wont be disappointed.

For tonight, Karachi Rocked in unison — Love you Karachi

Coming to India Was a Childhood Dream: Bryan Adams

By bryan adams.org |

Rock star Bryan Adams is scheduled to perform in Mumbai on February 4 and in Bangalore on February 5, after his tour of Pakistan – the first to the country by any major pop star.

In an exclusive interview to HindustanTimes.com on e-mail, Bryan Adams tells Yojana Sharma about his love for India, his future plans, his freaky memories and his love for vegetarianism.

This will be your third visit to India. Surely, you’re not an alien to the Indian culture and hospitality. What particularly mesmerises you about the country?
Indian people love music, so that is the first thing. There is a great energy in the country. I used to dream about going to India as a boy and now that I can come there to sing and play music, it’s incredible.

If given a choice, what all places would you like to visit in India?

I would like to go to Calcutta. We’ve been trying to arrange a concert there for some time and we haven’t been granted a permit to do so. Perhaps you could tell them I send my best wishes and hope that they will permit this one day.

A BRYAN ADAMS MOMENT FOR KARACHI TEEN

By bryan adams.org | February 2, 2006

— Bryan Adams didn’t know he had a following in Pakistan until his debut performance at Karachi’s Arabian Sea Country Club pulled in more than 10,000 fans. Most had travelled 40 kilometres from Karachi to witness, on Sunday, Pakistan’s first international celebrity music concert in recent history.

The benefit concert was a fundraiser for schools in Pakistan’s earthquake-affected regions. But to most Pakistanis, it symbolized an openness for which the country’s more secular elite has hungered.

Halfway through, Adams called out for someone in the audience to join him in singing the hit single, When You’re Gone. From the hundreds of excited fans who threw up their hands, for a chance to share the mike with the singer, whose popularity penetrates the middle and upper middle class segments of Pakistani youth. Adams chose Atika, a bubbly high-school teenager, and when the song was done, he hugged her tight and lifted her. In any other venue, the scene would have been ordinary. But in Pakistan, a country that has been in the news primarily for its connection to growing Islamist extremism, the moment seemed extraordinary.

Part of the magic on Sunday night was Adams’s music selection. Adams sang only two songs from his latest album; otherwise, he sang the songs his audience knew best — hits such as Summer of ‘69, Run to You and (Everything I Do) I Do It for You. Lit-up mobile phones and burning lighters swayed to the tune as excited concertgoers sang along. “Music has brought us together,” said Adams to a roaring crowd at the show’s end.

Bryan’s Concert? Oh They’ve Been Waiting From Adam’s!

By bryan adams.org |

Bryan Adams’s Third Time Lucky this Saturday eagerly awaited by city youth and die-hard fans…
The countdown has begun. It’s only two days to go before Bryan Adams casts his magic over the city for the third time. Scheduled to arrive in India tomorrow, Bryan Adams is slated to perform in the city on Saturday with the following day earmarked for Bangalore for his ‘Third Time Lucky Tour’.
Though Bryan Adams seems to be having his faithful fan followers, his popularity doesn’t seem to be what it was a decade ago. This time around Adams will be performing numbers from his new album ‘Anthology’ that includes a collection of his past hits like `Everything I do’, `Please forgive me’, `Summer of 69’ and `Here I am’ among others. Currently, the albums are doing extremely well.
Tickets are available at all Planet M outlets, select Reliance Web World and Web Express Outlets. Tele booking and home delivery of tickets is also available through 26493665. Samrat, in-charge at Planet M’s help desk said, “The sales for the concert are extremely high. Everyday we have mostly youngsters coming in to buy the tickets. They will all be sold out till the day of the show.”
We went around asking Mumbaikars if they were going to watch the maestro of lilting melodies in concert this weekend. And here’s what they had to say…

Atmanya Jhaveri, Student
I’m thinking of attending the concert as I’m a big fan and I really want to see him perform live. I think he’s much bigger than MLTR; this concert will definitely be crowded. I like most of his songs. (more…)

Addressing a press conference on Friday, Adams said he was looking forward to performing in India because “the enthusiasm of the fans is amazing. Also the facilities and the infrastructure have vastly improved from the first time I was here, so setting up a concert is not as difficult.”

“I love coming back to India because the crowd response is amazing. In any country I perform I always see a small contingent of Indian fans and they stand out because of the enthusiasm,” he said.

Adams, who has 10 Grammy awards and 12 platinum hit to his credit so far said the secret of his longevity on the international music scene was “playing your own songs in the car so you can hear what they really sound like.”

I Don’t Understand The Politics In This Country: Bryan Adams

By bryan adams.org |

This is his third trip. The last was in Dec ‘94. But the heat of the summer of 2001 was not really getting to Bryan Adams as he walked in calmly to address a press conference.

Dressed in a olive green T-shirt with a Tulsi mala around his neck and vermillion tikka, the rocker looked anything but one.

Talking about his experiences in India, Adams said, “The one memory that I will always cherish in India is walking into a room only to find Jimmy Paige and Led Zeppelin seated there. I can’t forget that encounter which happened on my last trip.”

“But on the whole, India is an experience at every turn. It’s quite special, considering I have been here three times. Though I don’t understand the politics in the country, because we wanted to perform in Calcutta and Delhi, and I was told that we couldn’t, which is quite sad. But maybe another time!” (more…)

Staging a Feast For a Star

By bryan adams.org | February 6, 2006

Chef Jitendra prepared an purely organic Indian vegetarian meal for the Canadian singing star

Bryan Adams may have had a hectic schedule with his show in Mumbai city last night, but before that he had a date with Chef Jitendra, executive chef of the Taj Lands End Hotel at 8.30 p.m. A special meal was created for Adams and the chef is going all out to put up a phenomenal show.

We spoke to Chef Jitendra as he and a battery of chefs were preparing to lay out a lavish spread. He said, “I am excited and eager to do it. We have been planning for Bryan Adams visit for a while. Luckily, I had time to play around and present a spread fit for the man.” “The catering is Indian vegetarian,” informs the chef, “as I know that is his preference. He has left the creation of the menu to us.” Creating dishes that are unheard of, he has the task of keeping it within the guidelines of — vegetarian, Indian and maintaining the spice levels. Tricky it may sound, but the balancing act is in control. (more…)

Smooth Bryan’s Gonna Run To You

By bryan adams.org |

He must be one of his country’s best exports since Canada Dry. Certainly, Bryan Adams has probably the sexiest voice on the planet.

And I love the fact that unlike cheese, the older he gets, the better he looks – and sounds.

With more than 50 million record sales worldwide, this extraordinary musician – who’s coming to South Africa in March, Durbs March 11 – has notched up almost a dozen albums and at least two dozen hit singles as well.

From his first major hit, Straight From The Heart in 1983, to his collaborations with people like Tina Turner, Sting, Rod Stewart and even Luciano Pavarotti, Adams has also lent his voice to numerous national and international charitable causes, starting from the very first Live Aid concert in 1985 (more…)

A Summer of ‘69 in the Spring of ‘06

By bryan adams.org |

Bryan Adams rocked Mumbai on Saturday night.
The Canadian singer hit the right note with the crowd during the three-hour show of the Third Time Lucky tour.
The serpentine queues outside the Bandra Kurla complex in Mumbai were the first indication of what one would expect from a Bryan Adams concert. And if you thought the Canadian rock-star’s popularity had faded, you couldn’t have been more wrong.
From eight to eighty, the rockstar took them all back to the Summer of ‘69 in February of ‘06.

The Superfuzz band from Delhi, winners of Campus Rock Idols 2005 opened for Bryan Adams, but that was not enough to pacify the screaming crowds.Performing along with a band, Bryan Adams enthralled crowds with non-stop classic hits from his new album, the career-spanning collection Anthology. Bryan Adams Strives To Write ‘Great Songs’

By bryan adams.org | February 7, 2006

MUMBAI, India (AP) – Bryan Adams is writing a new album, but of the 30 songs he’s already come up with, he loves just three.

“There’s a saying: ‘It’s easy to write songs, but very difficult to write great songs.’ I’m going through that right now,” Adams told reporters Friday while on his fourth tour to India.

Adams spoke of the discipline and objectivity that songwriters must have.

“It’s a really difficult process,” he said. “You have to be methodical and focused.”

The Canadian rocker recalled the rough, early days when as a struggling 18-year-old he signed a contract with a record company for just $1.

“I didn’t have a manager, I didn’t have a band, I was just a songwriter,” Adams said. “But I needed to get my foot in the door, so I took the dollar.” (more…)

The Voice That Overwhelmed Bangalore

By bryan adams.org |

Youngsters enjoyed the Bryan Adams show in Bangalore on Sunday.

BANGALORE: Two hours, 10 minutes and 25 songs later, Bryan Adams summed up his Third Time Lucky India concert at the Palace Grounds on Sunday: “This is by far the best response I have received in my concerts in Bangalore. It is an absolutely fantastic reception. I just don’t know what to say. This is not the last time I’m coming back here.”

Adams is growing older at 47 and is singing numbers that are not entirely new but that’s doing nothing to his immense popularity among college students who still listen to him and among the little-more-than younger who love to not only listen, but to see him, for sentimental reasons.

Adams does straightforward and uncluttered — even if clichéd — pop-rock and yet connects well. He may not be a Tull, Floyd or Straits, yet Adams is an intense and energetic performer and a great entertainer, doing what he knows best – simple music from the heart. (more…)

We had begun counting down the days a long time ago, playing back old albums in anticipation of his third performance in the city. When he did arrive on February 4 at Bandra’s MMRDA grounds, we realised it was all worth the wait.
Outside the venue, thousands had lined up to create incredibly longest queues. It took people around 2 hours just to get in. The show began at around 7 pm, but people were still being admitted until after 7:30 pm.

It began with performances by winners of the Campus Rock Idols contest. Some in the audience cheered, others jeered, hoping Bryan would come soon. They had to wait some more though, as countless advertisements by sponsors followed. (more…)

Adams’ Indian Connection

By bryan adams.org |

IF the advertisements were to be believed, you could be third time lucky. Rock idol BRYAN ADAMS’ third visit to this country was as much hyped as his earlier ones. And Adams, an old hand at such gigs, made sure he pulled out all the stops, to keep the crowds swooning and asking for more.

Adams’ Indian connection goes back many years. This time too he acknowledged, “Indian fans were easily spotted even in a crowd of western faces”. He said that he felt “Indians were more discerning of the music he played since they came from a country of great musical traditions.”

At the same time Adams expressed a desire to collaborate with Indian musicians — Ravi Shankar and Anoushka Shankar being the first names he could think of. Questioned about his creativity, Adams replied in the characteristic low-key manner that he has come to be associated with, “I am just a lowly song writer and I think the greatest test of songs is when you play them in your car. If they stand they probably hold good.” Given his talent with 10 Grammy’s in his pocket even today Adams is certainly not `wastin time’.

Bryan Adams Tickets Selling Fast

By bryan adams.org |

Tickets are selling fast for Canadian rocker Bryan
Adams´ visit to Pearse Stadium to be held as part of the Tribe Vibe music festival over the June Bank holiday weekend this summer.

The tickets went on sale last Saturday, 18 February, at 9am from Redlight records, from the 24 hour booking line at (091) 507445 and online at www.ticketlord.com, at a cost of €49.95 for standing tickets and €52.50 for seated tickets.

The concert will bring the curtain down on the planned festival, which takes place over the June Bank holiday weekend with a number of live acts performing at Galway´s main music venues.

Adams´career at the top has spanned over two decades, selling over 50 million records, while the 46-year-old Canadian rocker has penned a string of number one hits along the way.

(Everything I do) I Do It For You, which was the theme song from the film ‘Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves’ still holds the record for the longest running number one single in the UK charts at 16 weeks, while other hit singles include “Summer Of ´69″, “Run To You”, “Cloud Number Nine” and ‘All for Love’, recorded with Rod Stewart and Sting.

The concert hopes to attract over 30,000 punters to Galway´s premier GAA stadium, which should go some way to paying off the remaining debt, thought to be over €2 million after 2002`s Pearse Stadium redevelopment project.

A night to remember

Bryan Adams wows the Cape Town crowd at Kirstenbosch Gardens.

Cape Town – There cannot be a lot of better ways to kick off the week than to spend a balmy summer’s evening at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens listening to legendary rocker Bryan Adams belting out his hit songs.

It was the Canadian superstar’s fifth visit to South Africa, and even he acknowledged on stage that it was a perfect evening.

Surrounded by Table Mountain, the city lights and stars overhead; the venue could not have been better picked. The grassy slope in front of the stage was packed with thousands of people who had brought their blankets and picnic baskets.

Exactly at 20:00, the rocker appeared on stage with a professional show that was both vibey and easygoing and complemented the superb setting.

A large part of the crowd appeared to consist of teens who would not even have been born when Adams was made famous in the 80s with the hit album Reckless. Yet they appreciatively screamed in excitement as he sang hits like Summer of 69 and Heaven from it.  (more…)

Bryan Adams Doing It For SA Fans

By bryan adams.org |

Canadian pop superstar Bryan Adams is currently in South Africa, performing in Durban on Saturday and Johannesburg on Sunday after ending his third Cape Town show tonight.

This also happens to be his third concert tour of our shores. The last time he was here, fans were treated to a meet and greet when he emerged sporting designer stubble, a long-sleeved white top and a pair of white jeans. He joked, signed autographs and then sidled off.

We all wondered what he was going to don for the big concert. And on he came – in a long-sleeved white shirt and jeans.

Adams is not into sartorial elegance. Clothes don’t maketh this man. Instead, he likes to get on stage, sing his heart out and, sometimes, rush off stage and run round the back – as he did at one of his Durban concerts. The result was that those skulking in the cheap seats suddenly found themselves face to face with the man. (more…)

A Blast From The Past But Still Impressive

By bryan adams.org | March 10, 2006

It’s one of those last-gasp-of-summer sweltering evenings in Cape Town. Lying here on the lawn, and I’m finding it hard to believe, I’m at a Bryan Adams concert.

As a rock mate remarked earlier, “even if they sent a limousine filled with topless supermodels to fetch me, I would never go to a Bryan Adams concert”!

Anyway, I’m here and today’s rock arena is the rather staid (but mind-numbingly pretty) Kirstenbosch gardens and those who have come to rock are a sandalled bunch of middle-age, white suburbanites, parents, house-wives, young couples, bemused tourists, a wine farmer from Paarl and your high school art teacher.

Me, I was simply here to be impressed.

I’ve so far managed to ignore the fact that, with a two-decade career under his belt, raspy-voiced Canadian singer/ songwriter and guitarist Bryan Adams remains one of the most successful recording artists in popular music worldwide, even by today’s standards.

The excitement pre-Adams in the ‘Bosch is tangible as all around me hardcore BA fans quaff wine and cheese crackers. (more…)

Canadian pop-rock singer Bryan Adams is returning to his home country for a series of dates before heading to the US for a brief jaunt. The trip features a two-night stand in St. John’s, Newfoundland, as well as single evenings in four other Canadian towns. The scattered US schedule include dates in Memphis, Kansas City, MO, and Denver, and wraps up with two evenings in Las Vegas.

The roadwork supports Adams’ recently released hits collection, “Anthology,” which arrived in stores last October. The two-CD set houses 33 previously released numbers, as well as three new recordings: “18 ‘Til I Die” and “So Far So Good.” He re-recorded “When You’re Gone,” originally a duet with ex-Spice Girl Mel C., with fellow Canadian Pamela Anderson, making her singing debut. In October, Adams and actress Anderson shot a video for the song in Hollywood.

Adams’ most recent collection of all-new material, “Room Service,” surfaced in May 2005. The set features the cut “Why Do You Have to be So Hard to Love.” (more…)

Bryan Adams Ready To Hit The Road

By bryan adams.org | March 29, 2006

Bryan Adams has lined up a batch of new tour dates, beginning with a few gigs in his native Canada later this week. He’ll also play shows in May, including stops in Las Vegas, Denver, Colorado and Memphis, Tennessee. Adams told us that he likes doing just a few performances a month: “My schedule — sort of today — after all the work I’ve done is still pretty busy. We go out 10 days a month on tour. I’m basically somewhere. You can always see me somewhere in the world some month if you got a plane ticket. The way I like to work now is like basically 10 days a month. And you know that suits me because it’s enough time on tour to make it fun and interesting, and it’s enough time at home that I want to get back on the road again.” (more…)

Lowdown: Allen, Scott Laud Bryan Adams

By bryan adams.org |

Manager Bruce Allen would prefer that his long-time client Bryan Adams not be interviewed for his own Canadian Music Hall of Fame tribute piece — understandably, of course.

It would be kind of pompous for the Canadian singer, guitarist and songwriter to talk about why he is so deserving of the honour, and Adams is a humble sort.

Instead, Allen and Adams’ long-time guitarist Keith Scott share insight into the man to be inducted this weekend (April 2) at the Juno Awards ceremony in Halifax. (more…)

Bryan To Duet With Pam in Ireland?

By bryan adams.org | April 21, 2006

Blonde bombshell Pamela Anderson is planning to team up with her fellow Canadian native Bryan Adams at his major open-air concert in Ireland this summer. The former Baywatch beauty is expected to perform with the singer as he rocks Galway’s Pearse Stadium in June. Pamela revealed her singing skills when she added her vocals to Bryan’s latest album – performing with him on the Mel C duet, Baby When You’re Gone, for the 25-year anthology of his hits which was released last year.

Now Bryan has invited the stunner, who is dating Irish race ace Eddie Irvine, to join him on stage when he stars at Galway’s Tribe Vibe music festival on June 4th. A spokesperson for the event said: “He heard Pamela was planning to come to Ireland with Eddie this summer – so he rang her and asked her to come to Galway with him. They’re both from Canada and are old pals and she said she’d love to go to his gig. I dont know whether he’ll get her on stage with him but he’s going to try.” (more…)

International Star Bryan Adams Earns Mini-Tour Lifestyle

By bryan adams.org | May 5, 2006

In an early morning interview from New York City, Adams chatted about his upcoming show at the Fillmore Auditorium on Sunday.

News: You have just a few U.S. dates? it’s like a mini-tour.

Adams: ‘It was going to be longer, but I decided not to do a longer one. I like to go out a week a month and do shows and then go home. I remember when I told my manager that’s how I want to work about six years ago. He just laughed and said, ‘You’ll never do it. No one will stick with you. Your road crew will leave you. Your band will leave you. You’ll do sets by yourself with an acoustic guitar.’ Nobody left – everyone does it.’

News: You’ve recorded with both Sting and Pamela Anderson. Compare and contrast their styles in the studio.

Adams: ‘It’s kinda different (laughs). I don’t know if he’d really appreciate that all that much. With Sting, he was the first person I called when I wanted to do that song All For Love and wanted to do a trio of singers. With Pamela, it was more of a novelty. I wasn’t working with Pam because of her singing attributes.’ (more…)

“We can’t get Bryan himself here until June so this is the next best thing”, said Linda, of the stadium team.

“We’ve had the sense from the get-go that the manager wasn’t that keen on a Nanaimo concert,” said Gail Adrienne, NALT spokeswoman. “So our sense is that he’s just ignoring it at this point.”

Adrienne is refering to Bruce Allen, Adams’ longtime manager, based out of Vancouver. Allen issued a press release last December, saying Adams would play an outdoor benefit in Nanaimo in August. But that was the last communication NALT had from Allen. (more…)

Gavin Gets A ‘Brilliant’ Night

By bryan adams.org |

THOUSANDS of Bryan Adams fans witnessed an electrifying performance.

The gravelly-voiced Canadian rocker performed a two-hour set, cramming in as much material from his long music career as possible.

He was undoubtedly a hit – but the evening had got off to a great start with a set from up-and-coming Huddersfield band Smooth.

The trio, headed by 20-year-old singer Gavin Ellis, performed well at their biggest concert to date.

Gavin was joined onstage by band mates Matt Coates on bass guitar, and drummer Danny Fletcher.

They performed their own rock-inspired material with enthusiasm, with Gavin particularly cutting a strong presence with his mature vocals.

Soul diva Beverley Knight was the special guest on the evening’s bill. (more…)

CANADIAN superstar Bryan Adams is looking forward to playing at St. James’ Park next Tuesday, and he took time out of his busy schedule to talk about his trip to Tyneside.

You’ve played many gigs in the North East of England – what do you think of Newcastle and what are your abiding memories of the people and the place?

Bryan: The last time I was up there it was really cold and raining, but what surprised me was the way girls go out with such little clothing when it’s so cold! I mean, I come from Canada, and women don’t do that there… maybe they should!

You’re someone who has dedicated most of your career to touring – do you ever get tired of it? (more…)

By bryan adams.org | June 8, 2006

Chris Martin, Bryan Adams, Martha Lane Fox, Bob Geldof and Archbishop Desmond Tutu are among nearly 20,000 people who have backed the Observer and Amnesty International campaign to end repression on the internet. This remarkable response to the launch of irrepressible.info last week included support from around the world. The campaign – 45 years after a powerful article in this newspaper led to the founding of Amnesty International – recognises the internet as a new frontier in the struggle for human rights. It demands that governments stop censoring websites, blocking emails and persecuting and imprisoning bloggers. It also calls for major corporations to stop making it easier for them to do so.

A remarkable 18,790 people have pledged their support so far. Among them is Martha Lane Fox, who became a star of the first ‘dotcom boom’ when she co-founded the online retailer lastminute.com. Five World-Class Fashion Photographers Capture Images Of The Volkswagen Eos for The International Zeitgeist Magazine ZOO

By bryan adams.org | June 9, 2006

Wolfsburg, 07 June 2006 – Alongside its launch, the Volkswagen Eos is also making a debut in photographic art. No sooner had Canadian singer Bryan Adams picked up the prestigious Lead Award of the German marketing and media scene for his photo shoot with US rebel actor Mickey Rourke, than he had set his sights on a very special model: the Eos convertible coupé from Volkswagen.

The idea was born at a breakfast attended by representatives of Volkswagen and the magazine ZOO, which has been running for three years and is published by Bryan Adams. In search of ways of depicting the Eos that were out of the ordinary, the magazine’s editor in chief Sandor Lubbe suggested photographs by internationally renowned fashion photographers. (more…)

Sir Elton managed to top that with 600,000 last year .

Rick Reid Goes Reckless

By bryan adams.org | July 3, 2006

Edmonton’s City Streets frontman Rick Reid admits to Reckless being the reason he decided to play guitar.  Bryan Adams’s 1984 spawned six top-40 hits.

“If I am going to be honest, I have to go back to grade 4,” Reid says.  ”When I was a kid, I was really into sports, but it was that album that got me into music. That was the album which eventually led me to pick up a guitar.”

There was no escaping Reckless. Songs like “Summer of 69,” “It’s Only Love” (with Tina Turner)  ”Heaven” and “Run To You” were on hit radio non-stop.

“You still hear songs from it on the radio all the time,” says Reid. “Really, Bryan Adams is a great songwriter when it comes to melody. OK, a lot of his lyrics are really cheesy, but some of his songs sound really, really good. I’m not ashamed to say that.”

Reid actually thinks that you can make some kind of link between how he turned on to Bryan Adams years ago and where he is now as a musician. But City Streets doesn’t sound anything like Bryan Adams. Make no mistake.

Bryan Adams: I Haven’t Seen Mel C Since She Started At The Chippie

By bryan adams.org | July 9, 2006

By Kate Mansey, Liverpool Echo

BRYAN Adams says he’s not looking forward to all the tracksuits when he comes to Liverpool. And as he returns to the Summer Pops this year, he shows no signs of curbing his cheeky sense of humour.

In his career, the 46-year-old Canadian has produced an exhausting list of albums and singles. He has written tunes for other artists and now has even turned his hand to photography. From his rock anthems such as Summer of ‘69 to his ever-popular ballads, Bryan has been the master of his own career.
It was (Everything I Do) I Do It For You that secured Bryan a place in the hearts of UK fans, earning him the record for the longest running No.1

Bryan later teamed up with Liverpool’s Melanie C to record When You’re G one.
More recently he re-recorded the track with none other than former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson to help it appeal to the US market. (more…)

Bryan Adams, Summer Pops, Liverpool

By bryan adams.org | July 24, 2006

IT WAS the last night of the Summer Pops 06 and what a way to go out as Canada’s finest singersongwriter played a stunning two-hour set.

It was a greatest hits collection and more with pencil-thin Bryan and his band, all in dark T-shirts and jeans, who ensured that this was a real going-away party where audience participation was compulsory.

Bryan had two microphones set up on stage: one on the right and one on the left allowing him to run from one to the other between songs so his fans could see him.

It was a rich, faultless and diverse set delivered without any pop pomposity.

Everything I Do) I do It For You, which stayed at the top of the charts longer than any other number one, was here presented via Bryan on acoustic guitar. The crowd joined in on all the right places. (more…)

Bryan Adams, Liverpool Summer Pops

It only took one word from him in the strongest Scouse accent possible – LIVERPOOL – and the Big Top roared as you have never heard it before.

There really could not have been a better act to bring the Summer Pops to a grand finale than the Canadian rocker, Bryan Adams.

He never fails to impress, whether its at the Summer Pops or before a huge crowd at the MEN Arena, Bryan will always bring the house down.

And last night was no exception with the sell out audience dancing and rocking the night away with the star. (more…)

Everything Bryan Did, He Did It For Katherine

By bryan adams.org | August 27, 2006

WHEN Bryan Adams topped the charts in 1991 with (Everything I Do) I Do It For You the then 11-year-old Katherine Jenkins loved it so much she learnt to play it on the piano.

Little did she know that 15 years later she would record a classical version of the record-breaking song – with Bryan Adams playing guitar.

“I’ve loved that song since I saw it in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves,” reveals the 26-year-old Welsh soprano. “As I did with Dolly Parton’s I Will Always Love You on my last album I had the lyrics translated into Italian but I had to get permission from the writer.

“So I got in touch with Bryan who said ‘Wow, it’s an amazing idea’ and he asked to be involved in the recording. (more…)

Bryan Adams In Hungary In Late November

Pizza-faced Canuck rocker Bryan Adams will give two concerts in Hungary in late November. The shows are part of a tour to mark the 25th anniversary of his career, and apparently have nothing to do with the 50th anniversary of the crushing of the Hungarian uprising, though frankly 25 years of Bryan Adams is not totally dissimilar to 25 years under the yolk of the Russkies.

“The Guardian” Soundtrack Is Now Available Online

By bryan adams.org | September 20, 2006

An Article by Steven Stanley

‘Never Let Go’ is a song that features in the new film ‘The Guardian’ (starring Ashton Kutcher & Kevin Costner). It’s about the unsung heroes of the US Coastguards that risk their lives on a daily basis so we, the public have a safer life. The song asks as Adams throws his heart and soul into his latest film effort… and it has to be said, it’s one of his better ones.

The song has a great score arranged by Rabin and orchestrated by Jennifer Hammond. What you would have thought would have been the end of BA & brilliant film scores after the death of Michael Kamen just goes to show you… it’s not. Michael Kamen would have loved this score. It’s right up there and production wise the whole thing blends perfectly as a film soundtrack.   (more…)

Stern Portofilio – The Interview

By bryan adams.org | September 21, 2006

Q: When you think back, at what point in your life did photography become important to you?

A: It became important the moment I found out I was going on tour. I bought a Canon AE-1 and took lots of slides of my first tour. I did that a few years but then lost interest, mostly because fame launched itself upon me. It was different when I was suddenly the object of somebody else`s camera and it wasn´t until I was on tour and working with a photographer in Japan that I became interested again. We walked into a used camera shop and there was a beautiful old Rolleiflex camera, made in 1959. I bought it and still use it today. In fact, many of the shots in this Portfolio were taken with this old camera.

Bryan Adams Was In Connection With Whe Audience -Herning, Denmark

By bryan adams.org | September 23, 2006

For almost two hours Tuesday night, the Canadian rock star took the audience in Messecenter Herning on an unforgettable trip.

The time is a quarter to nine and and the arena is filled with an audience with great expectations and who only wait for him to go on stage. And finally it happens. What few seconds before looked like a country dance with the lights on, changes to a growling forum with tension and excitement.

Bryan Adams Sculpture in Indianapolis

By bryan adams.org |

Indianapolis – Residents and visitors to the Circle City may remember the Tom Otterness exhibit downtown last year, which placed whimsical bronze sculptures throughout the downtown area. Next week, a new public art exhibit opens in Indianapolis.

Something big is moving in downtown and it’s sure to get a lot of attention. Inside some crates are large wooden animals including a deer, a cat and a goat.

“I think they’re pretty playful,” said Jamie Pawus, artist and volunteer.

They are among the works of British artist Julian Opie and part of his new 11-piece installation called Signs.

“What he’s going to do for the community is push us to understand the non-traditional use of materials, his use of sign-making, plastic and light and things like this. It’s not traditional bronze. This is not your grandmother’s sculpture,” said Mindy Ross Taylor. (more…)

Bryan Adams Visual Gallery- Photokina Interview

By bryan adams.org | September 28, 2006

Q: You started to photograph and document a long time ago and so your work at the studios and on your tours. Did your approach to the photography as a creative activity change since your beginning? Did the choice of your reasons change?
Adams: Yes, certainly. First I did some photos because I wanted to archive in any format. Because no one else didn´t care about this documentation, I took my cam – and honestly I wished I took some more photos. This kind of work has inspired me a lot because I´ve seen/ I see a lot of places I´ve never been before and I get to know a lot of fascinating people which otherwise I never had met. What can you want more?
Q: Which kind of cameras do you use? Is the equipment depending on basic conditions or on your mood/ideas?
Adams: Wherever I go I´d rather have the same equipment with me. Some cameras I have a long time like my Rolleiflex and my Polaroid cameras. Sometimes I grub out my old 10 x 8 Deardoff but most of the time I use a Mamya RZ and different 35 mm cameras like my Leica M6 and my Contax T2 on which I can count on too.
Q: Can you imagine yourself working with a digital camera?
Adams: Yes, I´ve worked with that a few times. That’s really completely different from a film in a camera. It works best when I collaborate with a good lab which catches on a lot from “colourmanagement” during picture editing.
Q: Do you work more conceptual or more spontaneous? (more…)

Composer, singer, author and actor Sting takes the No. 3 spot for his various contributions to charity, including his dedication to the environment.

Other names on the list include Oprah Winfrey, Bill and Melinda Gates, Sir Elton John and, of course, our very own Bryan Adams, who placed No. 11 for his involvement in innumerable charitable organizations. This year, he became the first Western artist to perform in Karachi, Pakistan, with a benefit concert to help underprivileged children.
